Vincent kompany ends his career and becomes an andderlecht coach
Yes! you read it, vincent kompany has left manchester city after a long carrer as a football player to return to Belgium to train the RSC anderlecht.
Kompany, the successor of Frank Vercauteren at Anderlecht. The 34-year-old Belgian signs for no less than four seasons with the club where he went through the youth academy and made his debut in professional football in 2003.
Kompany returned to Anderlecht in the summer of 2019 to start as a player-coach, but after a disappointing start to the season, the Belgians decided to hire Simon Davies as head coach. Davies had to stop soon because of the poor results and was succeeded by Vercauteren in October last year.
“I want to fully focus on my role as a coach and I need 100 percent of my time for that. That’s why I quit as a football player”, says Kompany on the Anderlecht site. “Our ambition remains the same. I want to stay here for at least four seasons and prove that Anderlecht can bring modern football.”
